Help Me Grow Alabama is not a crisis intervention service. Any family in crisis who enrolls in Help Me Grow Alabama should seek to connect with an agency or resource that is equipped for crisis intervention, in addition to enrolling in the Help Me Grow Alabama Program. Below is a list of resources that are available to families throughout Alabama.
Statewide Crisis Intervention Services:
9-1-1/Local Emergency Room
Families experiencing a crisis demanding immediate attention should call 9-1-1 or visit their nearest emergency room.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (9-8-8)
Families experiencing an emotional crisis or suicidal thoughts are encouraged to contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by calling 9-8-8 or visiting their website at https://988lifeline.org/.
Additional Statewide Resources:
211 Connects Alabama
Dialing 2-1-1 connects you to a trained operator 24/7 that has access to a comprehensive database with a multitude of services in your community. By its design, the 2-1-1 system is ideally suited for serving as the initial contact point for any variety of programs. 2-1-1 is designed to assist families from all walks of life, but most importantly benefits our most vulnerable populations such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and low-income by facilitating access to public services.
Alabama Family Central
